Definition: Hyperbole when you exaggerate something.
Example: If I don't eat candy, I will die!
2. Alliteration
Definition: Is the repetition of the same sounds in words that are in the same sentence.
Example: The purple penguin pelted the pink pineapple with puny prune-colored Persian pebbles put together in Peru.
3. Rhythm & Rhyme
Definition: A bunch of words containing similar sounding syllables, and having the same sounds.
Example:
There once was a lad called Fred,
Who was dreaming, asleep in his bed.
He woke up on top of the house,
Licking his wife's favorite mouse,
But then he figured it just was his friend Ned.
4, Metaphor
Definition: Comparing two different things, concepts or nouns not using the words like or as.
Example: Life is a roller coaster.
5. Analogy
Definition: A comparison using two things that have something in common.
Example: Your heart is like ice.
6. Repetition
Definition: Using the same word over and over again.
Example: He um went to the um store, um to get um some cheese um for his um grandma.
7. Personification
Definition: Giving something that is not a human, human-like characteristics.
Example: The stars twinkled and winked at him as he walked home.

Definition: A reference to a person, place (real or imaginary), thing, event, or work of art.
Example: Saying on facebook that the school you went to was Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wirzardry.
9. Euphemism
Definition: Using different language instead of offensive words. It could also be used to make it harder to eavesdrop. Similar to a synonym.
Example: She stepped in a hurry to arrive on time to the playhouse.
10. Imagery
Definition: Using descriptive language that creates a picture, so a certain feel, sound or taste in the reader's mind.
Example: Dorothy skipped merrily on the bright yellow brick road, her blue dress standing out, and her red shoes sparkling brightly, and making sounds on the bricks.
11. Irony
Definition: When you use words that are the opposite of their literal meaning.
Example: They have a rat infestation in the sanitation department!!! Help!!

Definition: When two words sound the same, and you mix them up, creating something funny.
Example: I just love the sound of the blabing brook.

Definition: Is a word that is a sound.
Example: BAM! BOOM! GASP, AAAHHHH!!!!!!!
